Hanbok

Mommy asked what a hanbok is...


For those of you not intimately familiar with Korean culture (probably most of you), the hanbok is the unique traditional costume of the Korean people. Before the arrival of western clothing around 100 years ago, it was everyday attire. Today it is used for ceremonial purposes. One of those ceremonies is the tol - or the celebration of the first birthday. As part of the celebration a hanbok is traditionally made for the child and kept for remembrance. Here are a couple of photos of Kaitlyn in her hanbok.
